Refund & Return Policy
Last Updated: May 29, 2026
This Refund & Return Policy ("Policy") explains how refunds are handled for purchases of the Kernalite software and services, operated by Dunn-Carabali, LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). By purchasing any Kernalite product, you agree to this Policy. It supplements our Terms of Service.
Setup deduction. Every order triggers real work the moment it is placed — license provisioning, account creation, white-glove setup, and engineering time. Any approved refund is therefore reduced by a non-refundable setup fee to offset that work, as described in Section 3. You will never receive a full 100% refund of the original amount.
1. Scope
This Policy covers two products:
- Self-Hosted Lifetime License — a one-time purchase that grants a perpetual license plus a guided installation session.
- Fully Managed Cloud — a recurring subscription (monthly or annually) where we host the software on your behalf.
2. Digital Goods — No Returns
Kernalite is delivered as digital software and hosted services. There is nothing to physically return. Once a license key, download link, or cloud account has been issued, the product is considered delivered. Refunds, where available, are governed by the sections below rather than by a "return."
3. Setup Deduction (Applies to All Refunds)
Each purchase immediately initiates a setup process that consumes labor and resources we cannot recover, including but not limited to: payment processing fees, license key generation, account and environment provisioning, the scheduling or delivery of your 1-on-1 install session, and engineering and support time.
Accordingly, any approved refund will be reduced by a non-refundable setup fee that offsets this work. This deduction is applied to the original amount paid before the refund is issued. The setup fee is the greater of:
- A flat $199 setup-and-provisioning fee for the Self-Hosted Lifetime License; or for Managed Cloud, an amount equal to one (1) month of service; and
- All third-party payment-processing fees incurred on the original transaction (which are non-refundable to us).
The exact deduction is disclosed to you in writing before any refund is finalized. Where the setup fee meets or exceeds the amount paid, no refund will be due.
4. Self-Hosted Lifetime License
Because this is a one-time, perpetual license to digital software, refund requests must be submitted within fourteen (14) days of purchase and are available only if you have not yet downloaded the installation bundle or activated your license key.
Once the installer has been downloaded or the license key activated, the license is considered fully delivered and is non-refundable, as the software is then in your possession and control. Eligible refunds within the window are still subject to the Section 3 setup deduction.
5. Fully Managed Cloud (Subscriptions)
You may cancel your Managed Cloud subscription at any time; cancellation stops all future renewals. To request a refund of your most recent charge:
- Monthly plans: refund requests must be made within three (3) days of the charge, subject to the Section 3 setup deduction. After this window, the current billing period is non-refundable.
- Annual plans: refund requests made within fourteen (14) days of the initial charge are eligible for a prorated refund of the unused portion, less the Section 3 setup deduction. After 14 days, the annual term is non-refundable, though you may cancel to prevent the next renewal.
Renewal charges (the second and later billing periods) are non-refundable. We do not provide refunds for partial months of use, for periods in which the account remained active, or for failure to cancel before a renewal date.
6. Non-Refundable Items
- The setup and provisioning fee described in Section 3.
- Third-party payment-processing fees.
- Self-hosted licenses after the installer is downloaded or the key activated.
- Subscription renewal charges after the first billing period.
- Custom development, data-migration, or professional-services work already performed.
7. Chargebacks
If you dispute a charge with your bank or card issuer instead of contacting us first, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your license or cloud account and to contest the dispute with records of delivery and use. Please contact us to resolve any billing issue before initiating a chargeback.
8. How to Request a Refund
Submit refund requests through the contact form on our homepage or by replying to your purchase confirmation. Please include your order or subscription ID and the email used at purchase. We aim to respond within five (5) business days. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method, less the deductions described above.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The version in effect at the time of your purchase governs that purchase. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
